Former Cleveland Cavaliers forward Anderson Varejao confirmed Sunday that he will join the defending NBA champion Golden State Warriors.
Varejao, who was waived by Portland after the Blazers acquired him from the Cavs, told Cleveland.com in a text message that he agreed to a deal with the Warriors.
Varejao cleared waivers Sunday and will earn the veterans minimum with Golden State for the remainder of the season, sources told ESPN’s Marc Stein.
“Wow” – Coach’s Dad.
That’s all you can really say to this. Oh, and one other thing…I FUCKING LOVE IT. Varejao, during Lebron’s first tenure, was the Cavalier’s punching bag. He didn’t get the credit he deserved as a young Brazilian hustler. He was, in a word….bad. The effort was there though. Then, when Lebron went off to college at the University of Pat Riley, Varejao became so much more. Mo Williams and Wild Thing were the symbol of the state of the Cavaliers during that awful 2010-2011 season. It was a humbling year to say the least, but the effort those two put on the court night in and night out was admirable, and Varejao steadily improved despite injury setbacks. Now just as the band is getting back together, they ship out their bass player of old to Portland, who said “Nah we good, we already tried with Robin Lopez’s hair.” and they waived him.
What’s a lover scorned to do? How about joining up with the best team in the NBA (potentially of all time) and becoming the heavy favorite to win the title again? Is that good for you? Would you like that? I LOVE IT. Vince McMahon couldn’t write a better turn (seriously, Fast Lane last night was puke.) My only hope is is that he’s a mole. That would be so Dan Gilbert and so diabolical. For now, I guess I have to believe that Wild Thing is about to go HAM on the bench in San Fran.
