Joakim Noah’s Pending Free Agency

Jo

Admittedly, this isn’t a hot topic. Joakim Noah suffered a dislocated shoulder Friday against the Dallas Mavaliers and expected to miss 4 months to half a year, meaning he won’t be playing in a Bulls jersey for the rest of the season, or quite possibly the rest of his career. I have a tremendous amount of respect for Joakim, he’s brash, he hates Lebron, and his a physical player. People who hate Lebron don’t piss me off, it’s people who pick and choose when to hate him. Ol’ Jo clearly hasn’t liked Lebron or Cleveland, but at least he’s honest about it.

Obviously Kevin Durant is going to grab all the headlines this off season, but I think Noah is a decent piece that could go to a contender. Here’s where I think he’ll possibly land if he doesn’t sign back with the Bulls. Please keep in mind I have no idea what his price will be and if it’ll fit in with these teams budgets because math is for nerds.

Oklahoma City

Billy Donovan is in Oklahoma City, and unless they plan on firing him because they’ll want Durant to hand pick his coach, I imagine he’ll be there again next season. Why not bring the Joker to help recreate the back to back championship magic? Speaking of magic…

Orlando

I could also see Joakim going down to Orlando. They are a young, hopeful team, but I imagine there is absolutely no pressure on the franchise right now. And look at Joakim…he screams Florida.

Indiana

Indiana is currently trying its best with a small ball style, analytics roster. For the most part, it’s working, and the Pacers find themselves in the second tier of contenders in the East. Joakim plays like a big man but can run the floor well when healthy and properly motivated, it seems like a natural fit.

Washington D.C.

Finally, we have the Wizards. Nene is never healthy, and when he is, he’s not super productive. A year and a half ago I would have never said that about the uniballer, but his recent play has proved otherwise in a “what have you done for me lately” league. If OK City resigns Durant, Washington is going to have money to spend. Noah is at least a 8-10 million a year caliber talent, and if he could stay healthy DC should sign him.

PS. Googled Joakim Noah for the picture, and his sister popped up. Looks like she took all the good genes.
